EYElliance joins the Project Literacy partner network
Improving access to eyeglasses for children and adults
We are pleased to welcome EYElliance, a multi-sector coalition that drives the global strategy to close the gap in access to eyeglasses, to the Project Literacy partner network.
Poor vision limits children’s ability and their motivation to learn, diminishing their access to vital educational and economic opportunities. Globally, more than 239 million children live with poor vision. In many cases, the impairments can be corrected with a simple and low-cost intervention: a pair of properly fitted eyeglasses. EYElliance promote, demonstrate, and embed proven models of eyeglasses distribution, such as school-based vision screenings, in public and private systems. Their work accelerates impact on a large scale.
Vision correction is an essential tool for improving literacy rates for both children and adults, and we are proud to support EYElliance in their call to organizations from the education and literacy sectors to join their coalition to expand access to eyeglasses.
